Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs NAKASONE by H.E. Mr. Waleed SIAM, Ambassador, Representative, the Permanent General Mission of Palestine

On October 9, commencing at 4:45 p.m., for approximately 20 minutes, State Minister for Foreign Affairs NAKASONE Yasutaka received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Waleed SIAM, Ambassador, Representative, the Permanent General Mission of Palestine.
- At the outset, State Minister NAKASONE expressed deep concern about the expansion of settlements and the continuation of violence by settlers and explained that Japan will continue to play an active role for the reconstruction of Gaza, including by ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance. In response, Ambassador Siam explained Palestine’s position and expressed gratitude for Japan’s longstanding assistance to Palestine as well as expectations to Japan’s role.
- State Minister NAKASONE reaffirmed Japan’s consistent support for a two-state solution and its commitment to continuing its support for Palestinians’ state-building efforts, including through Japan’s unique initiatives such as the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) and the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park (JAIP). At the same time, he underscored the importance of the reforms of the Palestinian Authority. In response, Ambassador Siam expressed his gratitude for Japan’s longstanding assistance.
- Both sides held a wide-ranging exchange of views on the situations surrounding Palestine and Japan-Palestine relations and concurred on continuing close communication.
