Japan-Palestine Relations

On December 26th, from 12:15 local time for approximately 60 minutes, H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, participated in the lunch hosted by H.E. Dr. Rami Hamdallah, Prime Minister of Palestine, during his visit to Palestine. The overview is as follows.

1. In the beginning, Minister Kono expressed his gratitude to warm hospitality by Prime Minister Hamdallah and explained a grade-up strategy of Jericho Agro-Industrial Park, based on the importance of advancing steadily the “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity” initiative, especially in an increasingly complex situation surrounding peace in the Middle East. Also, Minister Kono explained a new assistance of approximately 40 million US dollars.

2. In response, Prime Minister Hamdallah welcomed Minister Kono’s visit to Palestine, and expressed his gratitude to Japan’s assistance for Palestine’s economic development such as Jericho Agro-Industrial Park, and stressed that he would like to continue the close cooperation with Japan.

3. The both sides exchanged their views regarding peace in the Middle East, outlook for the Palestine’s national reconciliation, economic policies and investment promotion measures.
