The Ministry of Foreign Affairs resumed the Israel-Palestine Joint Youth Invitation Program for the first time in three years and hosted five young Palestinians in Japan from February 2 to 8. The program details are as follows:

1. The delegation met with Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials to receive briefings on Japan’s diplomatic initiatives, including its efforts toward the Middle East Peace, followed by a constructive exchange of views. They also attended a session with representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to learn about Japan’s assistance to Palestine. During a judo experience at the Kodokan, participants embraced the values of respect and mutual consideration.

2. In addition, the delegation visited Hiroshima and Kyoto. At the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, they attended a lecture by Mr. Takehiro KAGAWA, Chairperson of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, and heard firsthand testimonies from an atomic bomb survivor.

During their visit to Hiroshima University, the participants received presentations from the students on peacebuilding initiatives and engaged in discussions on future trust-building between Israel and Palestine.

3. Following the program, participants expressed that they had gained valuable insights into Japanese culture and history, Japan’s diplomatic approach to the Middle East, and peace education emphasizing coexistence and mutual respect. They conveyed their intention to apply the knowledge and perspectives acquired through their experiences and exchanges in Japan to proactively promote mutual understanding, dialogue, and constructive engagement between Israel and Palestine, even amid challenging circumstances.
