On February 15, commencing at 7:00 p.m. (On February 16, 3:00 a.m. JST) for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during his visit to Germany for attending the Munich Security Conference, held a meeting with H. E. Mr. Ayman SAFADI, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, Minister Iwaya stated that it is extremely important that the agreement on the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release will be implemented steadily and in good faith and that the urgent Gaza humanitarian crisis remains essential. He also expressed Japan’s willingness to work together closely with Jordan on establishment of a two-state solution and long-term regional peace and stability.
  2. In response, Minister Safadi explained the latest situation on the ground as well as Jordan’s diplomatic efforts and stated that it is important to cooperate with Japan, a close and important partner. He then appreciated support from Japan, including in the field of economic reforms and refugee support.
  3. They affirmed the importance of trust between the two countries and confirmed that the two countries will continue working together.
