H.R.H Prince Faisal and Foreign Minister MOTEGI having a talk

On August 19, commencing at 11:20 a.m. (local time, 17:20 p.m. Japan time) for 20 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during his visit to Jordan. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Motegi appreciated His Royal Highness Prince Faisal’s cooperation for Tokyo 2020 Olympics as IOC Executive Board and expressed his respect for Jordan’s various efforts for the Middle East Peace. In response, H.R.H Prince Faisal expressed his congratulations on the success of Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and welcomed Minister Motegi's visit and stated that he would like to further strengthen bilateral relations following this visit.
  2. Minister Motegi reaffirmed Japan’s support for a two-state solution regarding Middle East Peace and stated that he would like to assume a role in confidence-building among the concerned parties through Japan’s initiatives such as the “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity” initiative. In response, H.R.H Prince Faisal appreciated Japan’s contribution and showed his expectation for greater cooperation toward resolving various issues.
  3. Both sides also exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan, and concurred on the continued cooperation in the stabilization of Afghanistan, among others.
