Japan-Jordan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
On June 11, commencing at 4:50 p.m. (local time; 11:50 p.m., Japan time) for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting Sweden to attend the Stockholm Ministerial Meeting on Nuclear Disarmament and the Non-Proliferation Treaty, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Ayman Al Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This is the first meeting between the two foreign ministers since the first Japan-Jordan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue held in Amman in December last year. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

1. The two ministers exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional affairs, and agreed to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

2. As the regional situation surrounding the Middle East has become increasingly severe, the two ministers agreed to contribute to regional stability as indispensable partners for one another.

3. In addition, Minister Al Safadi expressed deep gratitude, on behalf of Jordan, for Japan’s continued assistance to Jordan.
