Courtesy Call on Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI by H.E. Mr. Gideon SA’AR, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel

On May 14, commencing at 11:30 a.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Gideon SA’AR, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, who visited Japan on the occasion of the Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview is as follows:
- Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI expressed his hope that Minister Sa’ar’s visit will offer an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding between the two peoples and further develop the friendship between the two countries.
- Minister Sa’ar stated that he is looking forward to attending the ceremony of the Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, Japan, and expressed his expectation that this visit would be an opportunity to further advance the bilateral relations. Minister Sa’ar then expressed his understanding and support for Japan regarding the abductions issue.
- Regarding the situation surrounding Gaza, Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI stressed the importance that all parties, including Israel, would return to negotiations and work in good faith towards the continuation of the ceasefire agreement, and he underscored once again that Japan attaches importance to a two-state solution. In response, Minister Sa'ar explained Israel's position.
- They concurred to continue close communication on bilateral cooperation and various issues in the Middle East including the situation surrounding Gaza.
