State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII delivering remarks to the participants

On July 9, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the "National Day of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Gathering for Reconstruction Support" event hosted by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Japan.

  1. State Minister Horii attended the event, which was held in the occasion of the 215th anniversary of Venezuelan Independence and to express solidarity with Venezuela following the massive earthquake that struck the country on June 24 (local time). State Minister Horii delivered his remarks following the address by H.E. Mr. Seiko Ishikawa, Ambassador of Venezuela to Japan.
  2. In his remarks, State Minister Horii expressed his condolences over the massive earthquake that struck Venezuela, and introduced the support efforts being provided by the Government of Japan. He stated that the people of Japan have never forgotten the support extended by Venezuela at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and that Japan would continue to stand by the people of Venezuela and stood ready to study further necessary assistance. He further stated that he firmly believed that Venezuela would surely rise from this disaster.
  3. At this event, all attendees participated a moment of silence to express their condolences to the victims of the Venezuelan earthquake to mourn the victims.
