Courtesy Call on Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary NAKANISHI by Next-Generation Nikkei Leaders

On October 8, Mr. NAKANISHI Yusuke, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from nine next-generation Nikkei leaders visiting Japan from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, and Mexico under the invitation program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- At the outset, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary NAKANISHI welcomed the leaders who will shape the future Nikkei communities. He also stated that the bonds between Japan and Latin America are supported by the history of Japanese emigration spanning over 100 years and the presence of Nikkei communities, and that as generational changes progress, the Government of Japan wishes to strengthen bonds particularly with young Nikkei individuals who will lead the next generation.
- In response, representatives of the next-generation Nikkei leaders expressed their gratitude for the invitation by the Government of Japan and its efforts to strengthen cooperation with Nikkei communities and stated that they wish to leverage their experience from this visit to Japan to continue making efforts as bridges between their respective countries and Japan. Each participant also spoke about various initiatives in the Nikkei communities of their respective regions and the current situation surrounding Nikkei communities.
- Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary NAKANISHI expressed his hope that this visit to Japan would be fruitful and stated his expectations that they would leverage their experience to further expand networks among Nikkei communities and play active roles as leaders of Nikkei communities and as bridges between Japan and Latin America.
