Courtesy Call on Prime Minister TAKAICHI by the members of the Wise Group Meeting for Strategic Economic Partnership between Japan and Brazil

On April 8, commencing at 2:30 p.m., for approximately 15 minutes, Ms TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan received a courtesy call from the members of the Wise Group Meeting for Strategic Economic Partnership between Japan and Brazil, composed of key business leaders from Japan and the Federative Republic of Brazil, chaired by Mr. IIJIMA Masami and Mr. Eduardo VIEIRA. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Mr. Iijima and Mr. Vieira handed over to Prime Minister TAKAICHI the final report issued at the 14th Wise Group Meeting for Strategic Economic Partnership between Japan and Brazil held in Tokyo on April 7, 2026 and explained about the discussion at the Meeting. They also stated that the Wise Group expects an early conclusion of the EPA between Japan and MERCOSUR in order to realize the contents of the report.
- Prime Minister Takaichi extended her appreciation for the final report and stated that the close communication with business persons would be maintained for further promoting the Japan-Brazil economic relations in areas such as the 17 strategic sectors that the Takaichi administration places importance. She also stated that the EPA between Japan and MERCOSUR would be addressed through the discussion under the Strategic Partnership Framework between Japan and MERCOSUR launched last year.
