Courtesy Call on Prime Minister Ishiba by Japanese members of the Wise Group Meeting for Strategic Economic Partnership between Brazil and Japan chaired by Mr. IIJIMA Masami

On June 3, commencing at 3:00 p.m., for approximately 15 minutes, Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru received a courtesy call from Japanese members of the Wise Group Meeting for Strategic Economic Partnership between Brazil and Japan, composed of key business leaders from Japan and the Federative Republic of Brazil and chaired by Mr. IIJIMA Masami, Counselor Mitsui & Co., Ltd. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Mr. Iijima reported that the 13th Wise Group Meeting for Strategic Economic Partnership between Brazil and Japan was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on April 8, 2025 and handed over the final report to Prime Minister Ishiba. He also expressed his desire to continue to work together in the business sector of both Japan and Brazil, including cooperation on decarbonization and ecosystem conservation, supply chain resilience, as well as security of essential goods and resources. Furthermore, he affirmed the need of the Japan-MERCOSUR EPA.
- Prime Minister Ishiba extended his appreciation for the final report. He also expressed his determination that the Government will work to strengthen ties with Brazil.
