On April 8, commencing at 5:30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Rubén Eduardo Miguel TEMPONE, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister HORII stated that the relationship with Argentina, a strategic partner sharing values and principles, is important, and expressed his desire to work together to further strengthen bilateral relations especially this year, as it marks the 140th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Argentina.
  2. Subsequently, Ambassador Tempone expressed gratitude for the long-standing contributions of the Nikkei community to the Argentine people, and reiterated intent to work together to create new business opportunities in both countries, as well as to strengthen bilateral economic relations in this commemorative year.
  3. Furthermore, both parties exchanged views on regional affairs and cooperation in the international arena.
