Parliamentary Vice-Minister Akimoto and the FEALAC young leaders who sit down and exchange opinions

On September 14 2022, 5 young leaders of FEALAC member countries (Guatemala, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, and Philippines) who were invited to Japan through the “FEALAC Young Leaders Invitation Program” paid a courtesy visit to Mr. AKIMOTO Masatoshi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. The overview of the visit is as follows.

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Akimoto welcomed the young leaders of FEALAC member countries to Japan and expressed his hope that through the invitation program the participants would deepen their understanding of Japan's efforts toward decarbonization, as well as its science and technology, and that they will apply their knowledge gained in their respective countries. He also explained about Japan's world-leading development of solar cells.
  2. In response, the FEALAC young leaders expressed their cordial gratitude to the Government of Japan for the invitation and stated that they had cultivated a better understanding on the application of various science and technologies to achieve decarbonization in Japan such as solar cells and hydrogen technology. They also stated that they were able to experience traditional and modern Japanese culture, and expressed their desire to make active use of their experience after returning to their countries.
