The 24th invitation program for Young Leaders of FEALAC (Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation)

From March 16 to 23, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan hosted the 24th Invitation Program for Young Leaders of FEALAC.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has been hosting this Program since 2001, soon after FEALAC was established, with the aim to deepen the understanding on common issues in Asia and Latin America and strengthening the relationship among FEALAC member countries. The theme for this year's program was "Startup Support and the Use of Technology".
- On March 17, the participants of the program paid a courtesy call on Ms. ERI Arfiya, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. After the call, they received a lecture by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) on START Programs. On March 18, the participants received an explanation on the efforts of Japanese Government regarding Startup Support Program, as well as a lecture by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on TSUBASA Project. On March 19 and 20, the participants visited Hiroshima prefecture. On 19, they exchanged opinions with personnel of JETRO Hiroshima and received a lecture from Hiroshima University on Startup Support as well as learned about a business of startup company at Innovation Plaza of Hiroshima University. On 20, they visited the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and listened to a lecture by a survivor of the atomic bombing. On March 21, they inspected a startup company in Tokyo.
- During the program, the participants shared challenges of respective country related to startup support and the use of technology. They also exchanged opinions about the learning and insights gained through the program and about initiatives in Japan that could be used to address issues in their own countries.
- Throughout the program, the participants were able to have a better understanding on Japan's efforts towards startup support and the use of technology, and shared each country’s efforts and awareness of issues among the members. This program was a meaningful opportunity to deepen understanding of common issues in Asia and Latin America and to strengthen relations among FEALAC member countries.
