Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs HOSAKA by Young Leaders of FEALAC (Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation) member countries

On November 27 2023, 6 young leaders of FEALAC member countries (Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, Panama, Paraguay, and Uruguay) who were invited to Japan through the “FEALAC Young Leaders Invitation Program” paid a courtesy visit to Mr. HOSAKA Yasushi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. The overview of the visit is as follows.
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister Hosaka welcomed the young leaders of FEALAC member countries to Japan and expressed his hope that through the invitation program the participants would deepen their understanding on Japan's efforts regarding the use of DX, GX, and science technology in the field of food security and that they will apply their knowledge gained in their respective countries. He also explained about Japan's efforts to promote sustainable agriculture, such as “smart agriculture”.
- In response, the FEALAC young leaders expressed their gratitude to the Government of Japan for the invitation and their willingness to cultivate their better understanding on concrete measures taken by Japan to ensure food security, including the introduction of innovation into the food system. They also expressed their desire to make active use of their experience after returning to their countries, by having contact with traditional and modern Japanese culture.
