Courtesy visit to Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Takei by Young Officials of FEALAC (Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation) member countries

On March 2, 2017, 12 young officials of FEALAC member countries (Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Australia, Philippines, Republic of Korea and Thailand) who were invited to Japan through the "FEALAC Young Leaders Invitation Program" paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Shunsuke Takei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. The summary of the visit is as follows.
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister Takei welcomed the young officials of FEALAC member countries and expressed his wish that the participants of the program deepen the understanding of "disaster risk reduction" "sustainable growth" and "use of technology", issues which are of common concern amongst FEALAC member countries. He stressed that participants utilize for their future policy making and share what they learnt and experienced through visiting to disaster-affected community in their respective countries. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Takei expressed his hope that their visit would be fruitful emphasizing the importance of exchange networks.
- In return, the representative of the program's participants expressed their gratitude to the Government of Japan for the invitation and expressed their wish to deepen the knowledge and know-how of Japanese technology for disaster risk reduction and share their experience acquired through this program in their respective countries after the program.
