Japan-Mexico Relations

On February 17, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ERI Arfiya held discussions with H.E. Ms. Melba Pría, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States, at the Residence of the Ambassador of the United Mexican States to Japan. The outline of the discussions is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Eri stated that Japan and Mexico have a long-standing friendly relationship and are also strategic global partners sharing fundamental values and principles. Parliamentary Vice-Minister also emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations. In response, Ambassador Pría mentioned the various levels of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, and both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations utilizing such opportunities.
  2. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Eri stated that economic relations between Japan and Mexico are highly significant. Parliamentary Vice-Minister emphasized the importance of cooperation to maintain and further expand Japanese investment in Mexico. In response, Ambassador Pría stated that the presence of Japanese companies in Mexico is important for both countries. Ambassador Pría mentioned that she will work to deepen discussions about economic issues to strengthen Japan-Mexico economic relations.
  3. Both sides discussed possibility of cooperation across a wide range of fields and confirmed they would continue to work closely together to further strengthen bilateral relations.
