On December 8, State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII Iwao attended a luncheon hosted by H.E. Ms. Melba Pría, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States, at her official residence. The outline is as follows.

  1. At the outset, State Minister Horii stated that Japan and Mexico are neighboring countries across the Pacific Ocean with a long-standing friendly relationship and are also strategic global partners sharing fundamental values and principles and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations. In response, Ambassador Pría recalled various levels of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, and both sides concurred to the importance of revitalizing multi-layered people-to-people exchanges, including among younger generation.
  2. State Minister Horii stated the importance of maintaining and enhancing legal stability and predictability to sustain and further expand Japanese investment in Mexico. From this perspective, he expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Mexican government, including Ambassador Pría. In response, Ambassador Pría stated that the presence of Japanese companies in Mexico is important for both Mexico and Japan and that she would expect both sides to continue to work for our mutual benefit.
