On August 18, commencing at 2:55 p.m. for approximately 35 minutes, Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs held a meeting with Ms. Alejandra Del Moral, Executive Director, Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation, who is visiting Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister Fujii welcomed Executive Director Del Moral and stated that it is important to strengthen relations between Japan and Mexico, which have maintained historical friendship with longstanding diplomatic relations and neighbors across the Indo Pacific.
  2. In response, Executive Director Del Moral expressed her appreciation for the long-term cooperation relationship between Japan and Mexico in various fields and appraised the commence of Japan Mexico Partnership Programme 2030. And she also stated that Mexico would like to cooperate with Japan, with which Mexico shares fundamental values and principles such as democracy, free trade and human rights, to further deepen bilateral relations in a wide range of fields.
  3. State Minister Fujii stated that Japan would like to continue to contribute with Mexico, a strategic global partner that shares our values and principles, to resolving various issues such as immigration issues in the region through the cooperation with the international organizations and the Japan-Mexico Partnership Program. Executive Director Del Moral expressed her gratitude for Japan’s efforts.
  4. The two sides concurred to cooperate in further deepening not only international cooperation but also bilateral relations in general, including the economic relationship.
