Japan-Guatemala Relations

On June 10, commencing at 6:40 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mrs. ISHIBA Yoshiko , Spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, held a meeting with Mrs. Lucrecia PEINADO, First Lady of the Republic of Guatemala, who is currently visiting Japan as an official Guest of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

Mrs. Ishiba welcomed the visit of Mrs. Peinado, and expressed her hope that the visit of the President and Mrs. Peinado in this significant 90th anniversary year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Guatemala, as well as in the 2025 Japan-SICA Friendship Year, would further develop the relations between the two countries.
Mrs. Peinado expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and stated her desire that the Expo 2025 would be an opportunity for more people in Japan to learn about Guatemala and that exchanges between the two countries would deepen further.

In a friendly atmosphere, they also discussed various topics, including traditional cultures and customs between the two countries and the importance of activities in the field of social welfare, health and education. Mrs. Peinado expressed her expectation for Mrs. Ishiba’s visit to Guatemala.
