On August 20, commencing at 3:05 p.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. José Ignacio Paliza, Minister of the Presidency of the Dominican Republic, who is visiting Japan to participate in the National Day Event of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi, welcoming the fact that last year marked the 90th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, expressed his expectation that both the Expo, as well as this year’s Japan-SICA (Central American Integration System) Friendship Year, would further develop bilateral relations between the two countries. He also stated that Nikkei (Japanese immigrants and descendants) living in the Dominican Republic have long contributed to the development of the Dominican Republic.
  2. In response, Minister Paliza expressed his gratitude for Japan's continued support and his desire to further develop bilateral relations in various fields.
  3. Moreover, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi asked for the continued understanding and cooperation for the immediate resolution of the abductions issue and gained support from Minister Paliza.
