Deputy Prime Minister Aso Meets with Vice-President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba Cabrisas Ruiz

On March 9, H.E. Mr. Taro Aso, Deputy Prime Minister, met with H.E. Mr. Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers of Republic of Cuba, during his working visit to Japan. An overview of the meeting is as follows.

1. Deputy Prime Minister Aso stated that he was happy to reunite with Vice President Cabrisas Ruiz since 2006. Vice President Cabrisas Ruiz noted that he would be holding seminar on the economic reforms carried out in Cuba, such as the arrendment of the foreign investment law, in order to attract investment from Japanese firms.

2. Deputy Prime Minister Aso stated that while Cuba-U.S relations improve, the Japanese economy is also exiting from deflation, and its companies are also likely to be very interested in Cuba’s economic structural reforms. Vice President Cabrisas Ruiz stated that Cuba, although gradually, was moving forward and that it would not waver from its current path.
