Meeting between Parliamentary Vice-Minister Eri and Ambassador Richards

On December 11th, commencing at 2:30 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ERI Arfiya received a farewell courtesy call from H.E. Ms. Shorna-Kay M. Richards, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Jamaica to Japan. The summary is as follows.

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Eri expressed her respect for Ambassador Richards' energetic efforts to promote friendly relations between the two countries. She also stated that she was pleased to have played a part in strengthening Japan-Jamaica relations as Parliamentary Vice-Minister.
  2. In response, Ambassador Richards expressed gratitude to Parliamentary Vice-Minister Eri for her efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and Japan-Caribbean ties. She stated that she was pleased to see the partnership between the two countries progress further through Jamaica’s participation in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan as well as high-level visits to Japan.
  3. Both sides confirmed that they will continue to cooperate to jointly develop the “Kizuna (bond)” between the two countries through bilateral projects and people-to-people exchanges, even after Ambassador Richards' departure, in a cordial atmosphere.
