Today Her Imperial Highness Crown Princess Masako gave birth to Her Imperial Highness the Princess and both mother and child are safe and sound.

I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations on this joyous occasion.

Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress, Their Imperial Highnesses The Crown Prince and Crown Princess and their families must surely be overwhelmed with joy.

Moreover, my prayers are for the smooth recovery of Her Imperial Highness The Crown Princess and for the healthy growth of Her Imperial Highness the Princess.
