Her Imperial Highness the Princess, born on 1 December 2001, was given the name of Aiko (Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko), and was conferred the personal title of Toshi no Miya.

At 2:43 pm today Her Imperial Highness Crown Princess Masako gave birth to Her Imperial Highness the Princess at the Hospital of the Imperial Household.

Both mother and child are healthy and doing well.
