Courtesy Call on Prime Minister Kishida by President Hofmański of the International Criminal Court (ICC)

On October 20, commencing at 7:15 p.m., for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Judge Piotr Hofmański, President of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Prime Minister Kishida welcomed President Hofmański’s visit to Japan, and stated that Japan has consistently supported the ICC's activities as the largest financial contributor to the ICC and through sending Japanese judges and dispatching prosecutors, noting Japan's referral of the situation in Ukraine to the ICC. He also stated that Japan has high expectations for the role played by the ICC.
- President Hofmański expressed his gratitude for financial and human resource contributions of Japan, the largest contributor to the ICC, and added that he looked forward to continued support from Japan.
- The two sides confirmed that they would continue to work together to strengthen the rule of law in the international community.
