Japan will host the Tokyo Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit 2021 on December 7 and 8 in a hybrid format that combines on-site and on-line participation from Japan and completely on-line participation from overseas. Prime Minister, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Foreign Minister, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, Mr. GOTO Shigeyuki; and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr. KANEKO Genjiro, will attend the Summit.

While the entire world, regardless of high-income or resource-limited countries, has been facing with the escalation of the double burden of malnutrition -where we see the co-existence of undernutrition that hinders growth, and overnutrition that causes lifestyle related diseases, the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the situation on nutrition globally.

Taking this situation into consideration, at the Tokyo N4G Summit, a wide range of participating stakeholders, such as governments, international organizations, business, civil society, and academia will participate and discuss the direction of the international community to improve nutrition, focusing on the following five thematic areas:

  • (1) Health
  • (2) Food
  • (3) Resilience
  • (4) Accountability
  • (5) Financing
