Message of Congratulations from Prime Minister SUGA
on the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the World Food Programme (WFP)
On October 9, Mr. SUGA Yoshihide, Prime Minister of Japan sent a message of congratulations as below to the World Food Programme (WFP) on the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize.
I heartily express my congratulations to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) on winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
WFP has been making a great contribution toward eradicating hunger and poverty worldwide through food assistance.
Whilst the world faces an unprecedented global crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic to this day, I sincerely pay respect to WFP staff who are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic day in and day out.
The Government of Japan highly appreciates WFP’s abundant experience in addressing humanitarian crises as the sole UN agency delivering food assistance, and continues to support the efforts by the WFP.
