1. On July 24, the global launch of the Human Development Report 2014, which is published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will be held at the United Nations University (UNU) with the Government of Japan serving as the host country.

2. This global launch is scheduled to be attended from Japan by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and from the UNDP by UNDP Administrator Helen Clark. Furthermore, ahead of this global launch Administrator Clark is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Abe.

3. The theme of this report is “Building Resilience.” Japan and the UNDP are cooperating to build resilience, including disaster risk reduction, the promotion of human security and empowerment of women, and will lead the efforts of the international community.
