Ambassador Dr. Nakamura attended the UN General Assembly N4G Side Event:
Together for Nutrition


From 4:00 p.m. local time on 24 September (5:00 a.m. on 25 September in Japan), Dr. Nakamura, Ambassador, Director-General / Assistant Minister for Global Issues, who is visiting New York, U.S. to attend the High-level week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly and also attended a high-level event ‘Together for Nutrition’ held at UNICEF headquarters in preparation for the 2025 Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit in Paris, which was co-hosted by Japan, France, the United States, UNICEF, WHO, SUN movement, UN Women and Stronger Foundations for Nutrition. Over 30 speakers representing national governments, international organizations and CSOs participated in the meeting, and there was a call for the need for more comprehensive, gender-sensitive and sustainable nutrition measures in response to the global crisis of malnutrition through funding and partnerships.
In his speech, Dr. Nakamura introduced Japan's contribution to nutrition challenges in the international community, based on Japan's more than 100 years of nutrition policy that emphasizes food, experts and evidence. He also announced the progress and follow-up on the commitments made at the Tokyo Nutrition Summit 2021 and mentioned for the importance of cooperation with various stakeholders, including donors, civil society, academic institutions, and national governments among others in preparation for the N4G Paris Summit 2025. Finally, he welcomed the troika system established by the French initiative and emphasized that Japan is keen to work together with France and the United States to ensure the success of N4G Paris.
