Senior Deputy Minister ENDO’s participation in the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response (PPPR)

On September 25, from 2:22 p.m. (EDT) (September 26, 3:22 a.m. JST), Mr. ENDO Kazuya, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan attended the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response (PPR). The attendees of the meeting included Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, World Health Organization and other representatives from international organizations. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- In his national statement, Senior Deputy Minister ENDO stated that, drawing on the lessons learned from COVID-19, international solidarity is essential and no country can prevent, prepare for, or respond to a pandemic alone.
- In addition, Senior Deputy Minister ENDO reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to advancing UHC, emphasizing that UHC is the foundation for social stability and sustainable growth. He also stated that Japan would continue to work with the international community to turn the lessons of the past into action today.
- The participants expressed their views on the necessity of further enhancing cooperation with relevant countries and organizations. The participants actively discussed ways to strengthen PPPR.
