Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU Ayano by Lady Roslyn MORAUTA, Chair of the Board, the Global Fund

On June 18, from 11:25 a.m. for approximately 30 minutes, State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU Ayano received a courtesy call by Lady Roslyn MORAUTA, Chair of the Board, the Global Fund. The overview is as follows:
- At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU welcomed Lady Roslyn’s visit to Japan and expressed her respect for her dedication as Chair of the Board of the Global Fund. She also stated that global health is an important issue involving economic, social, and security risks, the Global Fund is an extremely important partner for advancing Japan’s health diplomacy, and that Japan will working together to achieve further results.
- State Minister KUNIMITSU stated that Japan would like to continue to cooperate with the Global Fund on the procurement of Japanese products and the recruitment of Japanese staff in order to promote Japan’s distinctive and visible cooperation.
- In response, Lady Roslyn expressed appreciation for Japan’s contributions to the Global Fund and made remarks regarding the Fund’s initiatives and its collaboration with Japan. Both sides concurred that they will continue to work together to achieve UHC through responses to AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria and health systems strengthening.
- Finally, taking into account that Lady Roslyn is scheduled to step down from her position as the Chair in October this year, State Minister KUNIMITSU expressed her renewed appreciation for the leadership and contributions she has made over many years.
