On June 19, 2024, Dr. EZOE Satoshi, Director of Global Health Strategy Division, International Cooperation Bureau, participated as a keynote speaker and a panelist at the 3rd Global Health Security Conference held in Sydney, Australia, as part of the keynote session "What is the role of CDC's in a Post-COVID World?”

  1. The event was hosted by The Global Health Security Network (GHSN) and convened in person. The panelists discussed the important roles of public health institutions learning the lessons from the COVID-19.
  2. From Japan, Director EZOE, joined as one of the keynote speakers. He briefed about Japan’s countermeasures against COVID-19, domestically and globally, Japan's recent efforts regarding the establishment of the Cabinet Agency for Infectious Disease Crisis Management (CAICM) and planned inauguration of the Japan Institute for Health Security (JIHS), as well as Japan's international assistance regarding COVID-19, including ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED). Prof. Paul Kelly, (Interim CDC, Australia), Prof. Vernon Lee (Ministry of Health, Singapore), Dr. Aalisha Sahukhan (Ministry of Health, Fiji), and Dr Kayla Laserson (CDC, US) also participated as keynote speakers on the same panel.
