Side Event of the G20 Development Working Group
"Effective Triangular Cooperation for Achieving the 2030 Agenda"

- On Wednesday January 23rd, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) will co-organize a Side-Event entitled "Effective Triangular Cooperation for Achieving the 2030 Agenda" with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Republic of Argentina in the margins of the first G20 Development Working Group (DWG) meeting under Japanese Presidency.
- Japan has conducted Triangular Cooperation (TrC) in various fields such as education, health care, agriculture, industry sectors, and disaster prevention for more than 40 years.
Different modalities of TrC including Third Country Training, Third Country Experts and Partnership Program were mobilized for the first time in 1975. Since then, as a part of TrC, more than 3,000 people from developing countries participates every year in the Third Countries Training, and more than 60 Third Country Experts are dispatched every year. - In this side event, presenting initiative on triangular cooperation which is Japan's strength, discussions will be held among the G20 member states, international organizations, development agencies, and NGOs for the purpose of confirming the matters to be tackled to achieve 2030 agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the G20 member states and international organizations. It is also expected the discussions would lead to those of Second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation (BAPA+40 Conference), TICAD7, and future G20 DWG.
