Japan’s additional contribution to the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD)
March 19, 2025
- On March 17th, Japan made its contribution of USD 5 million to the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). This contribution is on top of the initial contribution of USD 10 million, which Japan pledged at the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in 2023.
- Expecting that the fund will start its financial support as soon as possible to assist developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change, Japan will continue to actively contribute to discussions for the appropriate operationalization of the fund.
