Climate Change

May 18, 2018
  1. The Green Climate Fund (GCF) signed an Accreditation Master Agreement (AMA) with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on May 17 2018.
  2. This agreement will enable JICA to access the GCF resources in implementing projects to address climate change in developing countries. It is expected that the agreement will contribute to the promotion of Japan's assistance activities through the GCF.
  3. Climate Change requires concerted effort of the international community. Japan welcomes the signing between the GCF and JICA, and will continually work closely with the GCF.

Accredited Entities (AEs) are national and sub-national institutions, and international, regional and private organizations which can access to GCF's fund. Any institution/organization in public and private sectors can apply AEs. They are categorized on the basis of the entities as follows: Direct Access Entity (national and sub-national institutions, and regional organizations) and International Access Entity (international, regional and private organizations).
All entities are required to follow code of conducts such as fiduciary standards, environmental and social standards, and gender policy of GCF and need approval by the GCF Board in order to obtain accreditation.
As of May 2018, there are 59 AEs including JICA.
Accreditation Master Agreement (AMA) is a necessary agreement to access the GCF fund and implement projects after obtaining accreditation. The AMA includes conditions of funding and disbursement, project size and implementation, procurement, record keeping and reporting, AEs fees, compliance, and confidentiality.
