G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Niagara
(Overview of the “Session 2: Ukraine and Defense Cooperation”)

On November 12, commencing at 9:20 a.m. (11:20 p.m. Japan time on the same day) for approximately 50 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting Niagara, Canada, to attend the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, participated in the G7 session on "Ukraine and Defense Cooperation”. The overview is as follows (the session was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the G7, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Ukrainian Foreign Minister).
- In this session, the G7 foreign ministers, together with H.E. Mr. Andrii SYBIHA, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, discussed the situation in Ukraine and the G7's response.
- The G7 reaffirmed their solidarity with the people of Ukraine and confirmed their commitment to work closely together for a just and lasting peace of Ukraine. Minister Motegi reiterated Japan's stance of standing with Ukraine and stated that Japan would promote support for Ukraine in cooperation with the G7 and the international community. Minister Motegi also expressed the view that, under the belief that Ukraine's economic and social resilience is important, Japan would continue to work on industrial promotion to contribute to the recovery and reconstruction, through a public-private partnership. Furthermore, Minister Motegi mentioned that Japan would continue to lead efforts to accelerate reconstruction, including the Ukraine Mine Action Conference which Japan hosted last month.
