Parliamentary Vice-Minister IKUINA Akiko received a courtesy call by Indonesian Islamic Teachers

- On the afternoon of December 3, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs IKUINA Akiko received a courtesy call by a group of teachers of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia, who are visiting Japan under the invitation program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This program aims at promoting mutual understanding between the two countries through cross-cultural, inter-religious and educational exchanges.
- At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister IKUINA sincerely welcomed the delegation of Islamic school teachers and stated that this program, which has a history since 2004, offers meaningful opportunity for both sides to learn a lot from each other, while expressing her hope that the active exchanges of views during the visit will contribute to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Indonesia. She also expressed her expectation that the experiences gained through this visit would benefit the education of children in their home country, and further, contribute to the creation of a better future for their local communities.
- In response, the delegation expressed gratitude for the invitation program and stated that they were very interested in education, culture, religions, technology of Japan amongst others. They also showed their intention to make the most of their week-long stay in Japan by applying to tutorials for their students back home the experience and knowledge gained through the visits and exchanges.
- During their stay, the delegation will visit education institutions such as an kindergarten, public schools, and a university, and will participate in programs including interfaith dialogue and homestays.
