On November 7, commencing at noon, for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. FUKAZAWA Yoichi, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Zigmārs ZILGALVIS, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. At the outset, Mr. Fukazawa stated that Latvia is a partner of Japan which shares values and principles such as freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights and that he would like to contribute to develop the bilateral relationship.
  2. Mr. Fukazawa also expressed his pleasure to see increasingly active high-level exchanges between Japan and Latvia, and they shared the expectation that exchanges among young people would be more active, taking the opportunity of the entry into force of the Japan-Latvia Working Holiday Agreement.
  3. Besides, they exchanged the views on bilateral exchanges and collaboration in various fields, including sports exchanges, exchanges between municipalities, and business-to-business cooperation, and they confirmed that they would further promote the close relation between the two countries.
