On April 11, commencing at 3:45 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Xavier BETTEL, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi expressed his pleasure to meet Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bettel again and welcomed the Minister’s attendance at the opening ceremony of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, and expressed his appreciation for Luxembourg's commitment to the Expo.
  2. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi, who also serves as the President of the Japan-Luxembourg Parliamentary Friendship League, stated that he hopes to strengthen bilateral relations toward the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027.
  3. In response, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bettel stated that he was pleased to be able to visit Japan again following last year, and that he would continue to work to further strengthen Japan-Luxembourg relations. He also expressed his hope that people-to-people exchanges and economic relations between the two countries would be deepened through events such as the Expo.
