Japan-France Relations

Following the series of terror attacks that occurred in Paris (France) which caused numerous casualties on 14th November (13th night in local time), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent the following message to H.E. Mr. François Hollande, President of the French Republic. Minister of Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida also sent his message in the same line to H.E. Mr. Laurent Fabius, French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development.

“I am deeply shocked and outraged to hear that the series of terror attacks in Paris caused a large number of casualties. Such inhuman and despicable terrorism could never be justified by any reason, and I strongly condemn such terrorist acts. Here, as the representative of the Japanese Government and people, I express solidarity to the French Government and people. Furthermore, I also express my deepest condolences to all the victims and their bereaved families, and express my heartfelt sympathy to those who were injured in the attacks. In this time of difficulties, Japan stands with France. “
