Japan-Spain Relations

Following the floods caused by torrential rains that occurred on 29-30 October, which resulted in the deaths of many people in the eastern region of Valencia in the Kingdom of Spain and caused extensive damage, on October 31, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, delivered the following message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Pedro SÁNCHEZ PÉREZ-CASTEJÓN, President of the Government of Spain.

“I am deeply grieved and saddened to learn that many precious lives were lost and many people left missing, in the recent floods caused by torrential rains in the region of Valencia of the Kingdom of Spain.
On behalf of the Japanese government and people, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, and express my sympathy to those who are affected.
I sincerely pray for the quick recovery of those who are affected as well as the prompt reconstruction of the affected areas including the region of Valencia. Japan stands with the Kingdom of Spain in overcoming this time of difficulties.”

On the same day, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivered the following message of condolences to H.E. Mr. José Manuel ALBARES, Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain.

“I am deeply grieved and saddened to learn that many precious lives were lost in the recent floods caused by torrential rains in the region of Valencia of the Kingdom of Spain. I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives and my sympathies are with their bereaved families. I sincerely pray for the quick recovery of those who are affected as well as the prompt reconstruction of the affected areas.”
