On January 12, commencing at 5:40 p.m. (local time; 12:40 a.m. on January 13, Japan time) for approximately 45 minutes, and commencing at 7:20 p.m. for approximately 120 minutes, respectively, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, held an expanded summit meeting attended by Japanese business representatives, and attended a dinner banquet hosted by H.E. Mr. Jüri Ratas, Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, during his visit to Estonia. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the beginning of the expanded summit meeting, Prime Minister Ratas welcomed the Japanese economic mission and expressed his expectation that this visit would lead to the development of bilateral economic relations, while Prime Minister Abe explained that many Japanese companies had been paying close attention to Estonia as a country that had produced numerous startup companies, and stated his intention to promote business exchanges in a wide range of fields between the two countries.
  2. Following this, at the dinner banquet, Prime Minister Abe stated in his remarks that Japan would like to promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and strengthen economic relations through partnerships with Estonia’s pioneering IT companies.
