Japan-Croatia Summit Meeting

On September 19, commencing at 10:45 a.m. for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit meeting with H.E. Mr. Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, who is visiting Japan to participate in the National Day Event of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview is as follows:
- At the outset, Prime Minister ISHIBA welcomed Prime Minister Plenković’s first visit to Japan, and stated that Croatia is an important partner for Japan, sharing values and principles, and expressed his intention to work closely not only in bilateral relations but also in the international arena. He also expressed his satisfaction with the entry into force of the Japan-Croatia Air Services Agreement in March of this year.
- In response, Prime Minister Plenković expressed his desire to expand the cooperation between the two countries in a wide range of fields including the economic sector, taking the opportunity of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
- The two leaders welcomed that they agreed in principle on the Working Holiday Agreement between the two countries and confirmed to strengthen bilateral relations to further revitalize people-to-people exchanges.
- The two leaders exchanged views on various issues of the international community, such as the situation in Ukraine, and the situation in East Asia including the policies towards North Korea such as the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue, and concurred that the two countries will continue to work closely together.
