On August 18, commencing at around 4:35 p.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru received a courtesy call from H.E. Dr. Johann Wadephul, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Federal Republic of Germany, who is visiting Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. Prime Minister Ishiba welcomed Minister Wadephul’s visit to Japan and expressed his hope that this visit will further strengthen good bilateral relations with Germany, which is a partner sharing values and principles. Minister Wadephul expressed that he was honored to meet with Prime Minister Ishiba and that he hoped to further enhance the good relations between Japan and Germany.
  2. The two sides also exchanged views on international issues, including Ukraine and the Middle East, and concurred on continuing to work in close coordination.
