On 15 July, Ms. Eri Arfiya, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from Ms. Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, Chairperson of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (Foundation) e.V. (Former Defense Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany), for approximately 15 minutes from 3:30 p.m.
- At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Eri extended a heartfelt welcome to Chairperson Kramp-Karrenbauer's visit to Japan and stated that the importance of deepening cooperation with Germany, a premium partner with which Japan shares values and principles such as freedom, democracy, and the rule of law, is increasing amid the current international situation. She also stated that it is meaningful for both countries to exchange opinions in both the public and private sectors.
- In response, Chairperson Kramp-Karrenbauer expressed her gratitude for the Foundation's good cooperative relationship with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and stated that she would like to make use of the content of today's exchange of opinions in the discussions within the Foundation.
- Both parties also exchanged views on regional and international affairs including the updated Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) and the situation in the Indo-Pacific.
