Dinner between Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs IKUINA and H.E. Dr. Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Cyprus

On October 5, Ms. IKUINA Akiko, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended a dinner hosted by Yiannis Michaelides, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Japan, and held talks with Dr. Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, who is visiting Japan.
- Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ikuina expressed her respect to Cyprus for successfully fulfilling its responsibilities as the Presidency of the Council of the European Union until the end of June this year. She also stated that Japan wishes to work together with the EU, a strategic partner, to maintain and strengthen the free and open international order based on the rule of law, and to address the challenges facing the international community.
- Minister Kombos expressed his expectations for the further development of cooperation between Japan and Cyprus, stating that Cyprus attaches great importance to the rule of law and multilateralism.
- The dinner was also attended by Mr. MURAKAMI Seiichiro, Member of the House of Representatives (Acting Chairman of the Japan-Cyprus Parliamentary Friendship League), Mr. Giorgio Aliberti, Ambassador-Designate of the European Union to Japan, and Mr. Noel White, Ambassador-Designate of Ireland to Japan.
