On June 16, commencing at 5:15 p.m. local time (0:15 a.m. on June 17, Japan time) for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting France to attend G7 Evian Summit, held a summit meeting with H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of France.

  1. Prime Minister TAKAICHI expressed her intention to further develop and deepen cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as economic security including critical minerals, and advanced technology, based on the Japan-France summit meeting held when President Macron visited Japan in April this year. In response, President Macron stated that he received a wonderful hospitality during his visit to Japan in April, and he would like to further strengthen close cooperation between Japan and France in various fields such as security and advanced technology.
  2. Prime Minister TAKAICHI reiterated the importance of North Korea's denuclearization and the abduction issue, while touching upon the situation in East Asia, Iran, and the Middle East. The two leaders concurred to continue to work closely, building on the discussions at G7 Evian Summit chaired by President Macron.
