On March 6, Mr. Tsuji Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan delivered a speech at an event on NATO “Vilnius to Washington: Commitments and Ambitions for NATO at 75 and the Indo-Pacific Partnership,” co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Japan and the Embassy of the United States of America in Japan. Mr. Egidijus Meilunas, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and the Honorable Rahm Emanuel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Japan also attended the event.

  1. In his speech, State Minister Tsuji stated that the security of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific are inseparable as the security environment is becoming increasingly challenging; therefore, our coordination with NATO, which shares values and principles is getting more and more important.
  2. State Minister Tsuji also stated that it is important for Japan and NATO to continuously coordinate with each other and to further promote concrete cooperation, based on the Individually Tailored Partnership Programme (ITPP), formulated on the occasion of the NATO Summit last July.
