  1. On September 23, local time, the Ministerial Meeting of the Alliance for Multilateralism co-hosted by H.E. Mr. Heiko Maas, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany and H.E. Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, was held in New York in the margins of the High Level Week of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in a hybrid format under the themes of health - fight against the pandemic, human rights and gender equality, as well as climate change and biodiversity.   2. In the message, Minister Motegi said that the global spread of COVID-19 has made cooperation among the international community and multilateralism more important than ever. With the achievement of universal health coverage in mind, Minister Motegi explained Japan’s COVID-19 related assistance, inter alia, its vaccine cooperation including through contributions to the COVAX facility. In addition, he stated that Japan will continue to play a leading role in addressing climate change and biodiversity loss and that Japan would like to further enhance cooperation based on multilateralism.
